Guide to Mendi Assessments

As part of Mendi’s new focus experience, you’ll be asked to complete a short, scientifically validated questionnaire based on your selected goal. These assessments help you understand where you're starting from and track how your mental well-being evolves with continued brain training.

They are not diagnostic tools, but research-backed measures that support reflection and long-term progress.

1. Types of Assessments

When you select a focus area in Mendi, you’ll be matched with one of the following questionnaires:

Improve focus

Assessment: Attention Control Scale (ACS) - Evaluates your ability to concentrate and redirect your attention
Purpose: Identify attention control strengths and challenges.

Manage stress levels

Assessment: Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) - Measures how stressed you feel in everyday situations.
Purpose: Understand how you're currently experiencing and responding to stress.

Ease my anxiety

Assessment: Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD-7) - Screens for common symptoms of anxiety like worry, restlessness, or tension.
Purpose: Reflect on emotional and physical symptoms of anxiety

Lift my mood

Assessment: Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) - Assesses symptoms of low mood, motivation, and emotional well-being.
Purpose: Monitor changes in mood over time

Feel my best

Assessment: WHO-5 Well-Being Index - Captures your overall mental well-being and quality of life.
Purpose: Track general emotional resilience, calmness, and vitality.

2. How It Connects to Neurofeedback Training

Mendi’s neurofeedback training helps you improve brain regulation—supporting areas like focus, stress resilience, and emotional balance. But change takes time. That’s where the assessments come in:

  • They give you a starting point before training begins
  • As you train consistently, you’ll be prompted to retake the same questionnaire every 1, 2, or 3 months
  • Over time, this helps you see how your training is impacting your mental state

By combining regular sessions with periodic check-ins, you can track meaningful progress and stay motivated through measurable outcomes.

3. Check-In Frequency

You’ll choose your own check-in frequency:

  • Every 1 month
  • Every 2 months
  • Every 3 months

These assessments are timed to capture changes that occur gradually through consistent neurofeedback training.

4. Are These Assessments Diagnostic?

No. These are self-reflection tools, not clinical diagnostics. They’re here to help you:

  • Understand your current mental state
  • Set a clear starting point
  • Stay aware of how things evolve over time

If you ever feel your symptoms are worsening or affecting your daily life, please consult a healthcare provider.
